This is a potential 6-7 day itinerary for the Pafuri birding and photography safari, starting and ending in Hoedspruit, Limpopo:
Day 1: Arrive in Hoedspruit
On arrival at Hoedspruit Airport, you will be met by your guide and transferred to your accommodation in the Hoedspruit area for an overnight stay.
Day 2: Optional Hoedspruit Birding Tour (or travel day if 1 over-night is preferred)
Spend the day exploring the excellent birding spot on Mariepskop Mountain close to Hoedspruit with your guide. Alternatively, this is a travel day if you opted for just 1 night in Hoedspruit.
Day 3: Transfer to the Pafuri Region
After a very early breakfast, depart on the full-day scenic drive through Kruger National Park to the Pafuri region in the far northern section. Stop for birding and wildlife viewing along the way. Arrive at your luxury tented camp in the late afternoon and settle in before dinner (a short afternoon activity is possible depending on the arrival time at the lodge).
Day 4-5: Pafuri Birding and Photography Safari
Spend two or three full days exploring the wonders of the Pafuri region with expert birding and photographic guides. Activities include:
- Early morning and late afternoon/evening game drives
- Guided nature walks in search of birds and learning about plants/ecology
- Nighttime spotlighting drives
- Downtime at camp to relax, edit photos, photography workshops, and enjoy meals and drinks around the pool
Days 6: Depart Pafuri Region
After an early breakfast, depart the Pafuri camp and begin the drive back through Kruger, once again stopping for wildlife viewing en route. Overnight in Hoedspruit.
Day 7: Depart for Home
After breakfast and checking out, transfer back to the Hoedspruit airport for your departing flight.
This itinerary includes:
- 2 nights in Hoedspruit with an optional extra day for a birding tour
- 3- or 4-night luxury tented accommodation in Pafuri
- All transfers to/from Hoedspruit and Pafuri through Kruger
- All safari activities with expert guides
